Congratulations — guppies are livebearers, so a mixed-sex group breeds continually. In a community tank most fry get eaten and a few survive naturally; if you want to raise more, give them dense planting or a separate tank and tiny foods. If you don't want a population boom, keep only males (the colourful sex) or plan to rehome the young.

They do best in it. Guppies are a hard-water fish, and keeping them in soft water long-term tends to shorten their lives and health. Check your tap water's GH before buying — if it's soft, a naturally hard-water fish is a happier choice than fighting your chemistry. This is a big reason guppies thrive for one keeper and struggle for another.
